Vision Problems
The Human eye

The miracle of vision :
When images in the form of light rays enter the cornea, they are conveyed reversed to the retina and there through the optic nerve to the brain that reverse them back.

Perfect vision :
In a person with vision 20/20 eyesight when the light rays enter the eye through the cornea they focus perfectly on the surface of the retina for a perfect vision

Myopia (nearsightedness) :
Myopia occurs when the eyeball is slightly longer than usual from front to back. This causes light rays to focus at a point in front of the retina, rather then directly on its surface. Myopic or nearsighted people have difficulties seeing distant objects but have no problem with reading or close-up vision

Myopia correction :
Myopia is corrected with minus power lenses that re-direct the light rays to focus on the retina surface to re-establish a perfect vision.

Hyperopia (farsightedness) :
Hyperopia occurs when the eyeball is slightly shorter than usual from front to back. This causes light rays to focus at a point behind the retina, rather then directly on its surface. Hyperopic or farsighted people have difficulties seeing close objects but have no problem with distance vision.

Hyperopia (farsightedness) :
Hyperopia is corrected with plus powers lenses that re-direct the light rays to focus on the retina surface to re-establish a perfect vision.

Astigmatism :
Astigmatism is caused by an irregular shaped cornea. It may come together with nearsightdness or farsightdness and it gives slightly blurry vision when it’s a low astigmatism. A moderate to severe astigmatism can causes headaches and eyestrains and distort and blur vision at all distances.

Astigmatism :
Astigmatism is corrected with plus or minus powers lenses combined with a cylinder (compound lenses).

Presbyopia :
Presbyopia is caused by an age-related problem and it starts with a gradual loss of flexibility in the natural lens inside the eye. The problem is first noticed when people pass the 40’ years of age and is experienced with blurry vision at near points, like reading, sewing etc.

Presbyopia :
Taking care of Presbyopia with single vision lenses may resolve the problem of reading but it will put out of focus intermediate and distant vision.

Presbyopia :
The ideal lenses to take care of Presbyopia are PAL (progressive addition lenses). Progressive lenses are manufactured in different materials to take care of all consumer needs.
